SEL-2032 Communications Processor

SEL-2032 Communications Processor

  • Use plug-in cards in the SEL-2032 to connect IEDs to Ethernet or Modbus Plus networks.
  • Eliminate or reduce the need for SCADA RTUs.
  • Simplify, improve the reliability, and reduce the total cost of SCADA systems by using the SEL-2032 to collect and scale meter data, and also to collect targets, contact input status, and fault location directly from relays. Use the contact outputs of relays and other IEDs for control. Directly support Modbus RTU Slave and DNP 3.0 Level 2 protocols for links to RTUs or masters.
  • Connect IEDs that do not support Modbus to a Distributed Control System (DCS). The communications processor provides faster updates to the DCS than would a multidrop system because it groups data for more efficient multiple-register or block access. Arithmetic functions can change scaling, calculate virtual analog inputs, and compare analog values to thresholds. Use SELOGIC control equations to combine digital inputs to initiate and qualify automatic control, or for interlocks.
  • Support local HMI on a PC or industrial computer using the SEL-2032 as a communications hub for gathering data from and directing control commands to IEDs in the substation. Local event report collection, settings management, and data archiving may also be included in the local HMI.
  • Set the communications processor to detect critical conditions and dial a pager. Send an ASCII message to an alphanumeric pager or an SEL-3010 Event Messenger.
  • Use the SEL-2032 as a hub to enable low-cost, point-to-point fiber-optic links that isolate equipment from hazardous and damaging ground potential rise; eliminate RFI, EMI, and communications system ground loops; and allow longer signal paths than possible with EIA-232 copper connections.
  • Acquire and forward information from relays and specialized equipment monitoring devices to maintenance databases and expert systems.
  • Use SEL-5020 Settings Assistant Software to prepare settings and communicate with the communications processor.
  • Use with SEL-5040 Power System Report Manager Software to automatically gather relay event reports and manage them with a database.

SEL-2711 Modbus Plus Protocol Card

  • Open your Modbus Plus* network to the field-proven technology and advanced data gathering capabilities of the SEL-2032 or SEL-2030 Communications Processors. The SEL-2711 Modbus Plus Protocol card offers the key to connectivity with integrated systems using Modbus Plus. You can now combine the powerful communication and integration features of the SEL-2032 / SEL-2030 with the vast array of Schneider Automation products for substation automation. The SEL-2711 dual rear-port design allows for dual-cable Modbus Plus communication interface. In addition, the flexible multiple-slot design of the SEL-2030 allows installation of two cards. With two cards, you can implement redundant dual-cable Modbus Plus interfaces or combine card-specific protocol interfaces.

SEL-3351 System Computing Platform

  • Connect a video monitor, keyboard, and mouse to provide a human-machine interface (HMI) for alarm annunciation, local indication, control, and configuration.
  • Connect to SEL communications processors in a substation to convert relay data from DNP3 protocol to a legacy protocol for a SCADA master. Use data from SEL relays and other devices instead of lower reliability remote terminal units.
  • Connect to an RTU to communicate with multiple SCADA masters and local systems using different protocols. Optional protocols include DNP3 Master, DNP Slave, DNP3 LAN/WAN Master, DNP3 LAN/WAN Slave, Harris 5000 Slave, SEL Fast Messages Master, OPC Client, and OPC Server. Coming soon are IEC-60870-5-101 Master and Slave, IEC-60870-5-104 Master and Slave, IEC-60870-5-103 Master, and IEC61850. For protocols not listed, click here to see the other protocols in the library.
  • Use the SEL-5040 Power System Report Manager to detect, gather, and summarize relay event reports.

SEL-2410 I/O Processor

  • Use in a system with SEL communications processors, relays, and other devices, instead of an RTU. An RTU provides only remote I/O for SCADA; therefore, you do not benefit from the other functions available through an SEL communications processor-based system—protection settings management, power system report management, high-speed local logic, direct engineering access, and more.
  • Use SEL communications processors, relays, remote I/O modules, and I/O controllers for higher reliability, lower cost, and more functions, instead of settling for an RTU.
  • Sense up to eight pressures, temperatures, fluid levels, or other process values with an analog input card. Report these values to SCADA or DCS systems, and use them in local automatic control equations.

SEL-2411 I/O Processor

SEL-2411 I/O Processor

Add I/O to substation SCADA systems and plant control systems, and implement stand-alone monitoring and control using the SEL-2411 Programmable Automation Controller. The base unit includes three digital outputs, two digital inputs, and four plug-in card slots. Optional SELECT™ I/O cards include:

  • Eight analog inputs (AI) for dc process values

to an SEL-387A

SEL-2890 Ethernet Transceiver

  • Use SEL-2890 Transceivers and your Ethernet network instead of expensive leased or dial-up connections to reduce monthly operating costs. Connect to a serial port on your PC to operate proprietary device-support software through an Ethernet network without modifying the PC software. Replace a multidrop wired network (e.g., serial Modbus®).
  • Communicate with sites that have valuable data where leased or dial-up lines were too costly.
  • Use Telnet software for ASCII terminal connections to check the status, read metering data, or to examine history of event records.
  • Use familiar Web browser interfaces to easily view information with minimal training. The SEL-2890 Transceiver provides a Web page. Customize the Web page using your browser FTP features.
  • Set the transceiver to send email when power system faults occur, including the fault type and location. Send SEL relay automatic messages to specified addresses for quick notification and logging.
  • Use SEL-5010 Relay Assistant Software with Ethernet Option to manage the settings for relays connected to the host SEL-2032/2030. Email automatic messages from the relay.
  • Use SEL-5040 Power System Report Manager Software to automatically gather relay event reports on your PC and manage them with a database.
